This course will be covering two different subject matters. The first half of the day we will be covering Managing Unknown Contacts. Covering why managing space with strangers in your environment is imperative for safety and ambush stats on women. Breaking down the myths in Women’s Self Defense and the need to face your enemy. Understanding the language of violence and how to carry oneself and not look like easy prey. We will be spending our time on the mat in close quarters going over movement concepts and managing space. Alongside that, learning how to clinch, frame, sprawl, head pressure and weight distribution.
The second part of the day we will be covering Knife Concepts. During this time we will go over everyday knife carrying options and drawing under concealment. The importance of grip options and accommodating to your wardrobe choice. Following that we will talk about creating space and the psychology/motion when fending off an attack.

Instructor: Christun is a mom to nine children and was a foster parent for a decade to over 35 kids, mostly teen girls. With the background of foster care and understanding the cyclical nature of abuse, she has a passion for self-defense and recognizes through research that the physical safety of a person starts much sooner than a physical attack.
She has spent the lsat few years, in relation to her martial arts training, studying the body’s response too trauma and learning how to better understand and combat our fear responses. She started the Healthy Buffalo Project in 2019 as a blog, resource, and encouragement for women to make steps towards their own personal safety and the safety of their family. Having six daughters, she has a huge desire to build up in women an awareness of the environment around themselves, an awareness of self, and an awareness of action when needed. Not a false sense of security.
